Lots of Options
In uptown New Orleans, you can find some of the most beautiful houses in the city, and some of them are inhabited by Tulane students--though many house more students than can be counted on one hand. These many-student houses can be great, though they often become more like a "frat house," and they're never cheap.
At the same time, you can find a "room" (read: bed and some space) in an apartment for under $400 a month, you just wouldn't really want to live there. And of course, there's everything in between. If you look hard enough, you'll find something you can be happy with.

I Guess It's Diverse.
I really couldn't say how Tulane compares to other schools... It has diversity, but is it a lot? A little?
I have no idea--I guess I didn't really pay attention to counting minorities.
However, I can say that there is a large Jewish population, and that students come from all over the country.

Gets Bad Sometimes
"Frat row" lies between campus and a lot of off-campus student housing, so it's difficult to avoid the greek sector. On occasion, fraternities come under fire for illegal and/or immoral actions--and with good cause.
They still haven't determined the cause of either of the fires that destroyed two separate frat houses within months of each other.
