Athletics

Our football team is the focus of our sports program, mostly because it brings in the most money. The games are entirely too much fun to go to and a season pass is worth it if you live on campus. Although we havent been winning games in recent years the fans are still devoted and the action is still exciting. Sick? FSNArizona is available in the dorms so you can watch the game at home. Recently, the baseball program was fined but it didnt get a lot of media. The basketball team is great to watch but because the football and basketball season tickets are no longer bundled, not as many people go.

Parking at Arizona State University

Parking and Transit Nightmare

Parking passes at ASU are horrendously expensive. $800 and up will get you a year's pass to ONE garage. you cannot park anywhere else and they will ticket you several times in a day if you dont move your vehicle. Some of the parking lots are cheaper but you have to take either the Orbit shuttle or the Flash bus to where you want to be. Motorcycle passes are about $300 and allow you to park anywhere on campus where there is a mororcycle lot. You can also get a converter tag if your bike or scooter breaks down and you have to drive your car to campus. It might be better to just live close to campus or buy a semester bus pass. The Tempe Transit Center is just few blocks from the main part of Tempe campus and accross the street from University Towers dorms.

Try It on Your Own

Going up to the Financial Aid offic is almost always an excercise in futility. The people at the desk are often rude and love to tell you things you already know. They have a set of options for all students and once those options are exhausted they no longer have the patience to help you, or they dont know how. Ask you advisor or your peers about financial aid and use the office as a last resort.

Campus Dining at Arizona State University

A-

Good on Most Days

The dining halls offer a good variety of home cooked goods and each dining hall has its strengths. All of them offer cereal all day. Pitchforks serves breakfast in the morning and burgers for the rest of the day. The home meal is different every day. The Pitchforks salad bar and deli area are great and the international option every night is usually pretty good. They also offer vegetarian options. Pitchforks has waffle makers set up all day. Hassayampa's dining hall has a sitr fry and their home cooked meals are sometimes better that Pitchforks. They, along with Pitch and Manzanita, offer pizza all day. There are tvs in Hassy. Manzanita has a lot of the same options as pitchforks but its scaled down a bit.

Its best to get a meal plan if you want to eat at the dining hall, otherwise, its just too expensive. But dont get all M&G dollars either. These can only be used at campus eateries and you will never use them all by the end of the year. They dissappear if you dont use them up.

There are a lot of alternatives to the dining hall on campus. There are a few Starbucks, a Burger King, a Jamba Juice, a Quiznos, a Papa Johns, a Dominoes, an Extreme Pita, and Jump which serves asian quisine, a mexican place, a hot dog place, a cafe in Hayden Library, and many other places on the periferary of the campus. Sun dollars, which stay on your sun card whether you use them or not, can be used on and off campus and are required for the laundry room anyway.

Off-Campus Dining at Arizona State University

B+

Easy to Get Fat!

There is so much to eat just off campus. Chili's, PF Changs, Five Guys burgers, Hooters, Gordon Biersch, and Jack in the Box not to mention the little family owned eateries on Mill. McDonalds, Thai Basil, and Taco Bell cover the east end. Wendy's and Carl's Jr cover the south along with Ihop, Dominoes and Jimmy Johns. A Papa Johns and a new taco place take University Drive, while Panda Express, Subway, Smash Burger, Cupz, and a few other places cover College Ave to the north. And yet, you'll eventually eat everywhere.

Weather at Arizona State University

A

Hot. Just Hot.

The fall semester sterts at the tail end on monsoon season but other then that its just dry and hot. The coats dont really come out until Late November or Early December and the coldest by the time winter break is over, spring is on the way. Bring a bathing suit because if your dorm doesnt have a pool, you'll want to use the one at the SRC. Also, bring rain boots. While it doesnt rain often, the drainage is horrible and you'll find yourself wading in puddles for days. The end of spring semester is Hot! Dont put off moving out until the last minute or you'll be sweating off the Frosh 15.
