Off-Campus Housing at Miami University

B+

Living Off Campus

The houses and apartments off campus are great. There are many selections to choose from, and for the most part, the residences are still fairly close to campus. Almost all of the houses have a fun name that goes with it—a great tradition at Miami. One of the biggest cons about off-campus housing is that it can be pretty expensive. Some of the newer apartments uptown cost more than living on-campus, which I think is pointless. However, you do get what you pay for, and every apartment and house that I've been in and seen from the outside looks great.

Athletics at Miami University

B

MU Athletics

I think, overall, our school has a pretty decent athletic department. Our football team has improved greatly over the past year, and our hockey team is consistently good year after year. The major problem is that Miami as a whole isn't the most spirited bunch. It's common for people to go to the football games and leave at half-time (although that might change since we've won a bowl game).

Scholarships at Miami University

Scholarships

I never had any problems receiving financial aid, and Miami wants to make sure that you can afford college. Miami has a grant up to around $2000 a semester for Ohio students. The university has many other scholarships within each school division and major. If you need a scholarship, just look within your major or the school itself.

Academics at Miami University

A

Professors, Class Size, and Popular Majors.

The professors are always willing to help. It's really nice to know that regardless if the class has 20 people or 200 people, the professors make sure that their students can get the help they need. Also, it's really nice having classes the typically don't exceed 50 people (it's typically intro classes that are that large). When I first arrived at Miami, I realized people were majoring in three areas--psychology, zoology, and business. Obviously, people change majors throughout the years, but it's always amusing knowing that if you ask someone their major, it's typically going to be in one of those areas.
