Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is a really cool city. There's lots to do, from the various plays and museums to Steelers, Penguins and Panther basketball games. The Pirates aren't great but their games can be pretty fun nonetheless. There are a lot of really good restaurants in Pittsburgh, and close to CM is the O, Primanti's and Lulu's Noodles. The area around the school is safe, though obviously in a city this size there are going to be some bad areas. Locals are all pretty chill and friendly.

Tartan Athletics
The sports teams here are pretty good. The tennis and track teams are great, football is ok. Students always get in for free and so does everyone for most games. Intramurals can get pretty competitive and fun.

Pretty Good Actually
Most of the food here is pretty good. The Exchange is the best, so are most of the places in the UC and Resnik.

What, you're expecting Florida State?
Don't get me wrong, we do have a lot of fun parties on the weekends, but it's not the end of the world if you have to stay in on a Saturday night every once in a while to study for a test. Academics come first at CMU, but once the weekend rolls around I have no problem finding parties and having fun, and neither does anyone I know. Once you get used to balancing your workload, there's plenty of fun to be had.

Good but not essential
Greek life is a moderate-sized presence at CM. We have a pretty strong system that you can join, but it won't kill your social life if you don't. It can help you with networking and finding fun but it's not a necessary component to life here.
