Reliability With Work Outside the Dorm
We have a beautiful and massive library that is used well everyday by all students at Hampton University. Sometimes it is easier to finish work in the library as opposed to anywhere else especially if one is able to find one of the quiet floors to be on. Sometimes it is frustrating to have to wlak to the library to find that most of the computers are taken but there has yet to be a day where they are all taken. The internet is really fast and our brand new dell pc with windows 7 and microsoft office 2010 makes life and work much easier. Sometimes some of the computers are down but there is no issue with going to a different floor in the library and using a computer there. They usually are crowded when we are dealing with midterms, final exams and presentations. The only problem I have had with the library is when one of the printer arent working and we have to wait or run to the bottom floor to see if it is working down there. When worst comes to worst, and sometimes it does, I found myself running to another building just to use their computers to print out what I need with the help of my USB flash drive. Other than those few flaws of using the computers in the library or anywhere on campus for that matter, it really is a big help.

Hamptonian Men & Women
I have heard people say that when you leave high school and come to college that you have a chance to be something or someone for that matter, that you were not in high school because hardly anyone at your college would know you from then. At Hampton, we have an unofficial process that is called becoming "hamptonized". It usually occurs towards the end of a first year student's first semester in the fall. They see how people from all over the country that attend hampton have a certain style that usually alot of people condform to. they too start to look at different clothing styles and vintage styles (which are now coming back) to order and rack up on these clothing items during their winter break so that when they come back for the sprring semster they have been able to switch up their style a little bit so that they do not feel "left out." Don't get me wrong, no one Hampton walks around in pairs of people who talk the same and look the same at least not in all cases but we are known as the Historically Black University that is a "fashion show" everyday. And we love to live up to our reputation as being just that. That being said the guys and us girls are very appealing young indibvidulas with bright futures ahead of us. Not only do we know when to dress and know what to wear but we also know what needs to be worn at the right times therefore making it easier for us to dress the right way in the business professional world when we graduate and leave Hampton (you will catch at least 10 students wearing business professional suits a day because of major, student leadership program etc.) We are all diverse but are all unified at the same time.

Our Pirate Pride! (Pirate Is Our Mascot at Hampton University)
Our Pirate pride for every one of our athletic teams no matter what sport is none like the rest. We are always at every football game and try to make as many away games as possible. Our basketball team, both men and the women, are phenomenal and are also MEAC tournament championship teams as well as having the opportunity in playing in the NCAA tournament. Our Bowling team has done an excellent job on a consistent basis and so has our vollyeball team. We have a pep squad that is called Blue Lightning and they are at every game for every team at school and represent the Hampton University Student Body as a whole when everyone is not there physically. They are always painted from head to toe in our beautiful school colors of royal blue and white. Our cheerleading team, Blue Thunder hype up the crowd for every event as well and never look as if they're tired. Plus our Alumni love to come out to our games as well as if they still attend Hampton. The Greer Dawson Wilson Student Leadership Training Program includes a selected group of individuals to represent our school and uplift its name all while being ambassadors of the University and they are at every game as well and participate in hosting halftime games and chances for people in the audience to win great prizes that range from BOSE speakers to LCD widescreen plasma TVS. I love my H-I-U!!! ( Hampton was formerly known as Hampton Institute before it became Hampton University hence the "I" in "H-I-U")
