If You Don't Like It Now, Just Stick Around.
The weather is incredibly mercurial. It was sleeting one day, and two days later you could go outside comfortably without a jacket. The temperature tends to change fairly drastically very quickly. And many of the residence halls don't have a air conditioning, so when the east coast heat and humidity hits, it can be miserable; that heat makes the walk to classes pretty unpleasant, too. Also, when it decides to pour, the campus tends to transform into a river or a lake (but that's only when the storms hit, usually). When it rains, you certainly want to have an umbrella and some water-proof gear unless you want to drown your laptop, school-work, and clothes. There are plenty of mild days, though, both clear and lightly rainy. The winter can get pretty cold, so a winter coat is vital if you want to survive the trips to class, the Athenaeum, and the dining halls. But when the weather is nice, everyone is outside working, eating, sunbathing, walking through the woods, or just chilling with friends.
