Western Carolina University Transportation was reviewed by austinomg
C

The only transportation from the school is going to be a transit that takes you around campus. There are no good ways to leave campus except by a car, but grocery stores and wal-mart and restaurants are all located within 5-10 minutes of campus so if you can just hitch a ride you'll be fine to enjoy everything in Sylva. There definitely is a need for transportation from the school though to actually go out into Sylva for students that don't have cars or don't have connections to anyone with a car.

WCU is pretty much just normal. You're likely not going to get caught drinking or using drugs unless you are irresponsible and act crazy in public or get into fights with other people while intoxicated. You should obey the housing rules just incase your RA comes and checks at any possible time. Just don't flaunt any inappropriate behavior and you should be perfectly fine.

Western Carolina University Weather was reviewed by austinomg

Mountain weather is pretty seasonal and we have mostly clear skies, but of course we have rain occasionally as well. We have all 4 seasons here so except hot summers and snow in the winter time. Classes aren't too far from the dorms so you should always be ok getting to where you need to go. People love to hang outside especially in the spring and in the fall when the weather is clear and mostly cool. Make sure to buy an umbrella, but I doubt you will be using it that often.

My major is in broadcasting. We have an excellent radio stations fully equipped, recording studio that is amazing and mind blowing, and we have a $15 million SONY Television studio for my programs. Our professors have worked out in the fields they teach and provide great hands on assistance. The workload can be a bit heavy because you have to do a lot fo things out of class, but it's manageable and worth it if you love what you do. There is also lots of occasions to network and even get jobs secured immediately following graduations. Lots of good job opportunities and several internships in the area.

Western has amazing programs. Recording studios and television studies for the digital or entertainment lover, an excellent education programs for wannabe teachers (maybe the best in the state), and they offer a wide variety of majors in all fields such as engineering, medical, liberal arts, etc. There is definitely something for everyone at this college. They also offer many minors and certificates to enhance your major and your skills. Excellent school for academics and teachers who care about you.

Western Carolina University Guys & Girls was reviewed by austinomg
A-

The guys are pretty diverse with artsy, career oriented, partying, etc. It's the same with the girls. There are quite a few redneck girls and guys because of the geographical location. The guys are hotter than the girls, but the girls are good looking. If you're not familiar with mountain culture and people, it may take a bit to get used to the guys and girls. The culture here is a lot more rural, but that is not to say that it is any less good than an urban culture at all.

Ran by the Students – With over 250 student organizations, the students control a lot here. There's a Student Government Association, an LGBT club, and also intramural sports teams. Our school and how it is ran is in control of mostly the students, which I like. There's a ton of diversity on campus and all walks of life can find a place here.

Not Much for on Campus, but Plenty Off Campus – Nightlife around the campus is available for people 18+. The University is located in a very urban area with many clubs, parties and bars for any of age students. Transportation is convenient and affordable.

Apartments Are Convenient and Affordable – Most of the off campus apartment options have contracts with the university for good rates. If you decide to get an apartment with a friend/friends, you're going to be paying less money than you would to stay on campus. There are several options for apartments available off campus for you to choose from.
