Guys & Girls at University of New Hampshire

A+

Variety and Diversity

I came from a school that didn't have too many social groups and almost no diversity. It is very interesting to attend a bigger school that has people from all over the world and with so many different interests. I see girls with hair dyed every color of the rainbow, guys who are brilliant and sporty, but also enjoy 'geeky' subjects. There are so many different styles around campus! Walking to classes and observing the variety of the people around me is so intersting. And at night the campus becomes alive as girls dress up to go to parties or as girls and guys dress down to go to get a late night snack. There are so many unique groups that I could go on forever describing them.

Campus Strictness at University of New Hampshire

A-

UNH Policies

UNH tries to make sure everyone follows campus rules through the RA's. Some policies are: no underage drinking, no drugs, no providing alcohol to minors, and no visitors for more than 3 nights. These policies are enforced, but I also notice that people get around them with almost no effort. I rarely hear of underage drinking being noticed even though I know it happens in half the dorms. I haven't heard of anyone being caught with drugs yet, and no one notices visitors unless they are complained about. Although, when people are caught breaking the policies I believe that the repercussions are very fair. They take into account if it is the first time a student is caught and usually give them a second chance depending on how server their actions were. For example, when a few students were caught for the first time drinking underage they were punished but they weren't evicted that time. On the other hand they shut down a fraternity after several cases of underage drinking.

Transportation at University of New Hampshire

A+

Top Notch Transportation

The great transportation was one of the reasons that I chose to go to UNH. There are three bus routes that run to several of the surrounding towns. Each bus route has two buses that make the trip. They provide students with easy to understand schedules and the bus rides are free for students and very cheap for visitors. They take you to apartments, shopping towns like portsmouth, malls, walmart and other big box stores, grocery stores, etc.

There are also long distance buses. These take you to major destinations such as concord or Boston. These do cost students money but it is not unaffordable.

Along with the bus to boston there is a train right on campus. It is similarly priced as the bus, around $20-$30.

Finally there are buses that take you around campus. So if you don't feel like walking or the weather is bad, you can take the bus anywhere on campus for free. These come about every 10 minutes so it is very convenient.

Unique Things About UNH

One unique thing is that the food is great. Everyday there are many tasty options and great desserts. On special occations they have feasts which are REALLY delicious.

Another is that there are fun destinations surrounding UNH like portsmouth or Boston. Trasportation to each are available and free if you're going to portsmouth.

Finally they have a nice movie theater right on campus that plays somewhat current movies including 3D ones. Also, on warm nights they play them on the lawn for free.
