Academics at Oberlin
The library system is awesome, and all the libraries are really great places to study. For a school with less than 3000 students, having 4 libraries is awesome! The workload is a lot depending on major and such, but that's to be expected at a prestigious private school with such small classes. The professors are all really great and accomplished. I've had professors with multiple PhDs and really intense real-world experience, like working for the UN.

Relationships at Oberlin
A lot of relationships are really serious, but there is also a pretty big hookup culture too. Straight girls and gay guys have a tough time, but lesbians and straight men don't have problems finding people to be with from what I've seen. Men here are really awkward, but the women are really great!

You Don't Need a Car
You only need a car to go further out to Walmart, but there are plenty of shops and restaurants right next to the college. Downtown Oberlin is basically on campus. You can walk or bike everywhere.

I've Always Felt Safe, but...
There is rising crime on campus. Not just petty stuff like stealing $20, but stealing laptops and even sexual assaults and robbery. I've been harassed by town kids walking in the square at night, but generally I always feel safe. Some places aren't well lit though. At the same time, though, I've accidentally left a pair of really nice designer sunglasses somewhere for 8 hours and come back to still see them there, so most people really aren't into stealing your stuff.

Academically They're Tough but...
There are no crazy room invasions and weed is pretty much legal on campus as long as you don't use it in the buildings. People walk around smoking joints all the time. Security officers are really nice and we have a medical amnesty policy so that if a friend needs help and you help them, you won't get in trouble for illegal activity as long as you get them help.
