I heard that you have to get a perfect GPA (4.0). In order to even try to get acepted into this school, is this correct?

not really, it helps but they look at a borader spectrum in order to decide if you are fit for the school. they well beyond grades and scores, they want to see the real you.

Yes it's true unless your an awesome athlete

that is not true but have high than a 3.5 helps

Not true at all. I got in with a 3.75. That being said, I'm very involved in extracurriculars, so it balances out.

It does boost your chances, however, grades are not everything for Harvard. They look at your courses, your extra curricular and most importantly your personality.

Grades are simply a good knock on the door; your handshake is what counts:

yes

I also think test scores are extremely important, because these are standardized for all students, whereas GPA and grading varies between schools

You don't need exactly a 4.0, but you do need really good grades. Also, there's no formula to get in, so even if you have everything you "need" to get in, there's no guarantee you will get in.

I have heard that you have to accomplish a perfect GPA (4.0) in order to have a chance at being accepted into this school, is this true?

No, but your GPA should probably be at least a 3.85, unless you have something really special going for you (like race, family situation, etc.). A GPA over 3.9 should can be enough.

Can you please elaborate about having something special about you?

Being Hispanic or African American; having a low GPA because you were dealing with grief or something else early in your high school career that might have caused your grades not to reflect your true academic ability; having some really impressive extracurriculars (ex: winning some prestigious regional or national competitions, not being the president of an honors society at your school); getting a very high SAT score; having a unique skill, such as being able to speak 5+ languages or being a world-renowned pianist; being a very skilled athlete capable of playing for a Princeton team; etc.

What is your GPA?

How is being Hispanic or African American special in this case?

Right now my GPA is around a 3.5 I'm a historian in german club, I play lacrosse and I am very involved in my church, is there anything else I should do? I'm a freshman in highschool and I'm feeling the stress just with lacrosse, let alone the german club and church.

Thanks

I'm also a freshmen and in many clubs but I know a lot about college. You should focus on being in electives that revolve around the major or scholarship you want and do a lot of community service.

Those two ethinicities are considered underrepresented minorities. The ivies are striving for diversity so they look for qualified individuals in those two ethnicities. That is why they have such great financial aid at the lower economic levels. They are trying to make a ivy education available for everyone.

Bachman, the most important thing for you to do is to get your grades up. The importance of extracurricular involvement is SO overstated. Princeton will not care about how many clubs you're in if you have a 3.5. Unless there's something remarkable about you that you didn't share, there's no way you'll get in with that sort of GPA. But it's really way too early for you to be thinking deeply about where you want to go to college. You have lots of time to improve your grades and grow into an interesting person that excellent schools will find desirable.

Sumire, not to be mean, but you clearly don't know enough about college if you don't know what affirmative action is. But that's OK, because you're a freshman, so you have a lot of time to think about this.

Lol thnx for the info my school definitely overstates it

What is the minimum GPA I have to achieve in order to apply for this college? And do you have criminal justice

I'm not sure but I got in with a 2.4

I think the minimum is a 3.0 or something like that. And yes, we do have a criminal justice program.

We do have criminal justice, and I'm not 100% sure about the minimum GPA, but if you have a 2.8 or above I think you should be fine.

Yes there is a criminal justice program. I don't think there is necessarily a minimum. Maybe 2.0?

Yes, they have criminal justice I believe and a 2.5 or higher is recommended.

The gpa I at least need to have in order to apply for an application to this college is a 3.0 and this college does have criminal justice.

what is the GPA you have to achieve in order to apply for this college?

As close to 4.0 as is possible

You can have any GPA to apply to this school. Whether they accept it is a different question.

what is the GPA you have to achieve in order to apply for this college?

Villanova University is not as competitive as Ivy League schools in order to be accepted but still you still need to keep your GPA as high as you can, be sure to study hard, take AP or honors courses during high school. The acceptance rate is 46%.

Most students coming into Villanova have a 3.20-4.00 GPA but I know people outside this range who have applied and still gotten in.
