Local Atmosphere at University of Alabama

A+

T-Town Environment

Great place, even after the tornado. Places are starting to rebuild and reopen. Still tons of great restaurants, the strip is amazing. Downtown has good food, shopping, museums, and many other attractions. Its a better than typical college town. In my two years here, I've visited other college towns like Auburn, College Station, Athens, and Oxford. The only one that even comes close is Athens.

Greek Life at University of Alabama

A+

I'm Greek!

I am a sophomore in an Old Row sorority here on campus. Greek life is amazing and has provided me with countless opportunities to meet new people and to get involved in so many ways. Most non-Greeks don't really care about Greek/non-Greek, but there are a few organizations on campus that just totally hate us. Sororities are a bit on the expensive side, however, every house has a kitchen staff and we get three good meals a day included in that. You always have a place to go 24/7 to study, hang out with friends, or just go to get away for a while. Sororities and Fraternities have members that live in the houses, but there are no Greek dorms or anything. Definitely get involved with it!

Scholarships at University of Alabama

D+

UGH

I transferred from a different SEC school in the middle of my freshman year. I had a 33 ACT, a 4.3 GPA coming out of high school, and a 4.0 for my first semester of college, and had already been accepted into the UA Honors College. However, I will not be able to receive any scholarships until Fall 2012. So, basically now I have $20,000 in student loans because I transferred at an inconvenient time.
