Design World

i am a first year student, and the courses of the core design program keep my schedule fairly hectic. the workload is hard to balance among the required courses. the design building is open 24/7, which is very very helpful when i am working on projects that take hours! all of the professors that i have encountered thus far, have been somewhat helpful. majority of them are very educated, and have great communication skills. but there are few professors that disappointed me. i was not satisfied with their interaction among students, and their particular views. if the professor is in charge of an art studio, they should be able to accept different views on art... and not force their own view down the incoming freshman students. many of my first year design students are changing their majors, outside of college of design!

More to Life

The nightlife of ISU is present for those who love partying. One way or another, students, who set out to party, will find alcohol and fun. The nightlife, near campus, is only enjoyed those of age. But majority of the underage students party off campus. I do not care for partying, therefore I do not experience the night life of ISU. All of my friends speak positively of the nightlife, and are satisfied with the social scene.

Strict Iowa State

The university enforces the underage drinking policies. Housing can be taken away, depending on the broken policy, but it has to be severe. Many different faculty members address the students of the risks, and communicate one-on-one if any policies are broken. This serves as a good goal, to not disappoint your professors.
