Facilities at University of Notre Dame

C+

Overrated Facilities

The gyms are remarkably so-so, especially for such an athletic campus. The newer one, Rolfs is decent, but fairly secluded from the rest of campus. The Rock is old and decrepit, but more accessible.

The student centers are LaFortune and Reckers. Reckers is mostly an after parietals hang out, but people go to LaFortune throughout the day to visit the convenience store, get food, or study.

I worked at Reckers first semester of freshman year. I've had fast food job experience, and the sad thing is that the working area of Reckers gets far more disgusting than the fast food restaurant I worked at. Students aren't briefed on health code violations, and I witnessed them left and right working there.

Campus Housing at University of Notre Dame

Notre Dame Perpetuates Skewed Gender Relations

The campus is full of students who attended same-sex private high schools, and many of them have lived fairly sheltered lives before coming to college. The gender relations are already extremely weird, and separating the girls from the boys only makes it more so. I would much rather talk to a person of the opposite sex because he was my neighbor than have to deal with the tensions between the genders.
