Off-Campus Housing at Colorado College

B+

Good Options Close to Campus, Older--Historic Houses, Apartments Hard to Come by

On-campus housing seems to be most popular at CC because only Seniors are allowed to live off campus. There are a variety of students houses and options located close to CC and the downtown Colorado Springs area, however when choosing an off-campus house I would NEVER go beyond the CC bubble. Colorado Springs as a whole is vastly different from CC with the military, born-again, Focus-On-The-Family, overly religious vibe. If you start looking early, it can be easy to find off-campus housing. It is less-expensive than on-campus housing, but the quality is not as nice.

Athletics at Colorado College

Hockey or D-3

Sports are not a huge part of the CC campus apart from Hockey. Compared to the Division 1 school that I transferred from, students are not as involved and do not have as much school spirit. In contrast, I think the athletic scene is appropriate for the school: Hockey games are a lot of fun and it can be fun to watch soccer or lacrosse, even though they are D-3. The athletic facilities however are extremely poor, same with the club sports offering. Unless you love ultimate frisbee, there are little to no club teams.

Nightlife at Colorado College

On-Campus Is Where Its at

Almost all CC nightlife is on or close to campus. Sports teams are largely responsible for house parties: the Basketball team and Hockey team are known for having good house parties. Going out to bars/clubs in Colorado Springs is relatively unheard of because Colorado Springs is so conservative/religious compared to CC. It is not hard to drink if you are underage and drugs are available if that is what you are interested in. Fraternity parties do not play a large role in the nightlife, however with Fiji and Sigma Chi back on campus, that will hopefully change. The school does a good job providing student with on-campus parties: the most popular are Drag-ball, Worner Halloween, and occasional rave-type parties. Even though the school puts them on, they are actually fun to go to.
