What are the dorms that are typically upperclassmen? & which are the nicest out of those?

I'm transferring as a sophomore.

Preferably co-ed w/ a nice "social scene" lol

Generally, North campus is for upperclassmen while South campus is for underclassmen. I have heard that Connor is a "party" hall. Joyner is a substance-free dorm so alcohol is not allowed there. The Connor Community is directly across from the Student Union and the Pit. Hope this helps!

I applied as a transfer student and was just curious (if I'm accepted fingers crossed) if transfer students somehow end up with less options for housing or if they still get their pick of things.

I was mainly wondering because I read some article about how students were camping out to get rooms in the dorm with the suites (I forget the name)...

Thanks if you answer!

I was a transfer student last year. Housing is great for transfers, join a LLC and you will feel more connected to other transfers. Also, attend transfer events.

So...

Communal bathrooms?

Suites have their own bathrooms, and hall bathrooms are gender specific

How do you get a suite?

^ I second that. Lol

So, I sent in my application not too long ago and got my myCarolina log-in stuff to check my application and what they need from me still. It's not listing all three of the high school transcripts.. it didn't even list the HS I graduated from. It listed the school I went to in 9th/10th. Is that just some weird "hiccup"?

If you mean the "To Do" list, it will only list materials they haven't processed yet. So if one transcript is listed and the other is not, they are probably still processing your materials.

But see, that's the thing. I hadn't sent them ANY of my transcripts when I looked and saw that :\

If you listed all of the schools on your application, then I'm assuming it's a "hiccup." I would wait a couple of days and if it doesn't clear up, try contacting the admissions office to be sure there aren't any issues with your app. I also had to send multiple HS transcripts and it took about two weeks AFTER I sent everything in for it all to be processed correctly.

I mean, I'm just gonna send them all of the transcripts anyway but it'd be nice to be able to actually know they got them. Lol.

I'm a transfer applicant.

I attended three different high schools.

I read on the website that I'm supposed to have an official transcript from each school, but then I called and the woman that answered told me one from the school I graduated from was fine.

Now I'm confused.

Does anybody know what's the correct answer?!

I attended two high schools and I had to send a seperate transcript from each one. In fact, they contacted me and told me I was missing one of them and gave me a chance to send it in. So I'd say request one from all 3 schools and send them in just to be safe

Thanks a lot!

I read that UNC has a lottery system for basketball/football tickets. Even though it's a lottery system, do a lot of students get tickets they want?

Yes. Tons of students get tickets for most games (Duke and State games are a different story however)and if you don't get a ticket in the lottery you're almost sure to get a seat from the stand-by line.

I received about 20k scholarship wise which seemed like a lot until I thought about how that's only about half the cost. Some people I know got nothing at all. It's kind of hit or miss.

I live in University Hall and the rooms are pretty large. Also, every room has its own bathroom (and that's the same for most, if not all of the dorms). The proximity to classes varies depending on where you live. A lot of the upperclassmen dorms are a little far but the walk still isn't much, around 15 minutes from where I live. The dorms are kept clean and some have little markets to buy things like snacks or cleaning supplies.

There's a lot of weed smoking but I have not seen much hardcore drug usage, although some of the people I know have. It all depends on who you hang out with. Drinking is also pretty popular.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Parking had a new discussion posted by bcotton530

I've read that the parking situation at UNC "sucks"... can someone explain to me what's so bad about it? Is it not even worth bringing my car?!

For your first year at UNC, you need to pay approximately 800 dollars to keep your car on campus, that's why most people don't bother. After that, it can just be really hard to find parking sometimes.

Oh, I guess I should've mentioned I'm considering transferring so I'd be in my second year if I get accepted. But, I guess a better question would be is it hard to get around without a car?
