New on the Inside, Old on the Outside
Everything is made of stone and looks old from the outside but the interior is very comfortable and well-functioning. The student center (Norris) isn't really a popular hangout but has plenty of seating and food if wanted. The gym is really nice and I never have trouble with it being overcrowded except the basketball courts at times, but all the equipment is new and is really nice. It's a lot better than my local YMCA. My biggest complaint is everything closes very early so there's really nowhere to go or eat past 10.

Don't Be Stupid
Most of the time crime is off campus late at night when someone is walking alone, so make sure you travel in packs or call safe ride. But there has been a few daylight crimes this year. Health is good, safety is lacking.

What You Expect
Buses are free, but they are usually running late so they are better used for going to meet with friends than for class. The El is really close and pretty cheap so going to Chicago is really no hassle.

Gone Greek
With winter rush, fraternities are basically recruiting freshman all fall quarter and throw open parties. But winter and spring quarter basically eliminate open parties and rushing is really the only way to enjoy big parties, especially for guys. Overall, the Greek system is great here.
