Greek students at UMD don't stick out compared to other students. Some frats or sororities have special t-shirts and such, but it's not a big deal around here. Parties and such are a blast though, but since I'm 21 I don't go out looking for Greek parties anymore.

Men's hockey is definitely the sport that counts around here, however that's the only sport that students have to pay for. Anything that women play, no matter what it is, doesn't really matter too much according to the students here. The athletic facilities are fantastic, and they're even better that a membership is included in our tuition.

Finding off-campus housing is rather difficult in Duluth to find in your price range. It helps a lot if you know someone who lives off-campus or know a landlord that has multiple properties available. A lot of housing off-campus has on-street parking, which is definitely a negative during the winter months.
