Off-Campus Dining at University of Alabama

C+

Sandwiches, Sandwiches, Sandwiches...And

There are a bunch of restaurants/fast food places and eateries around campus. They are all within walking distance, but unfortunately most of them are the likes of Quiznos/Subway/Firehouse subs etc. There are two coffee shops, a wing place, sushi, thai, hot dog place, and a bunch of bars and mexican places right near campus on "The Strip". It's the place people go as soon as the sun is down and the lights go on. The best places to eat off campus are Little Italy's Pizza, which has great prices and an awesome selection of great tasting pizza and Tut's Greek/Mediterranean food which has awesome hot subs and calzones.

Transportation at University of Alabama

F

Buses Suck

These busses don't run on a regular schedule. The drivers are lazy and sometimes will just pass someone or not stop when you hit the button that you want to get off. There is no other public transportation in Tuscaloosa and during class time everything around campus is usually pretty packed because everybody has to take a car! Live close to campus and use a bicycle...that will be your best option.

Inside Scoop at University of Alabama

A

Pick Management Information Systems as Your Major and You Will Succeed!

I give the school a solid A. The University of Alabama has some unique programs, great diversity and if you're into it, the greeks rule the campus. We have a huge international student population which makes for some awesome multi-cultural interaction. The German language program as well as the English Language Institute are very big and draw a lot of students. Alabama's Engineering program is one of the best in the Southeast and has seen some great expansion. The best program though is Alabama's Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems. The student faculty ratio is small, it's a solid program that gives you real world experience and MIS grads have the highest starting salary of all undergraduate programs, besides the nurses (everyone needs nurses, even the MIS majors ;) - The Public Relations program at Alabama was recently ranked best in the nation and the Operations Management major is a hands-on experience that guarantees graduates a job in Industrial Engineering/Process Improvement/Logistics! GO UA MIS - 100% job placement rate and big bucks with the knowledge that will let you succeed at any job you chose!

Greek Life at University of Alabama

A+

The Machine ...Rules Campus

Well, I think Greek life must be great,s ince so many students are part of greek organizations. Fraternities and sororities rule this campus and all SGA presidents have come from Greek organizations in the last 15 years. It can sometimes get a bit weird between the "G** D**n Independents" and the Greeks but al in all everybody tries getting along!

Campus Dining at University of Alabama

D-

SUCKS!

The only good thing about campus dining is that there is Starbucks! Everything else is run by a contractor, which is ARAMARK - They stink! The food is overcooked, overpriced and totally overvalued. Chick-fil-a is more expensive on campus than in the city, Burger King is more expensive on campus than off-campus and a salad costs more than a Double Whopper. Aramark sucks AND the University charges EVERY single student $300 PER SEMESTER for "Dining Dollars" which can be used anywhere on campus, plus a couple of off-campus locations! It should be illegal!
