I think the fact that the college is located in such an expensive and desirable city says it all. New York is such a great place place to be (despite the cost of living) other than that if you enjoy the idea of living in such a diverse, exciting place Barnard is right for you.

What Athletics
I mean come on, Barnard isn't really known for it's athletics so if that's what you are looking for don't come here. On the other hand though there are a lot of great clubs and teams available.

Women's college provides normal security
It's a women's college so we are expected to act a certain way and they want to provide a certain amount of normal security.
