Diversity in Cuisine and Prices

The surrounding Knoxville area is still growing behind the rest of the country. Given this, there are many different types of restaurants that come and go. This is beneficial in being able to try new things, but it can be a nuisance when your new favorite restaurant is suddently out of business. However, those that have lasted offer a great variety of ethnic cuisine from all American to Haitain menus. Prices are always reasonable, no matter what you want; the only exception would be the Brazilian steak houses. In all, Knoxville is a great community for food enthusiasts.

Social Acceptance Is Greek Life

There is a lot of emphasis on being part of a fraternity or sorority at University of Tennessee's Knoxville campus. If you want to have an active social life here, you will have a difficult time without joining one of these groups. Many people will not even date outside of brother/sister fraternity/sorority groups. This is not to say that people will treat you negatively in day to day life, but solid relationships are much less likely if you are not in the Greek life.
