You cannot live off campus if you are a freshman or sophmore. There are many apartment nearby and if you do not have a car, there is a bus system. Commuter parking is somewhat limited which may require you to park away from classes and walk or take the bus to them. Many new apartments are being built close to campus.

Overall Experience
I love attending Kent State University! I would not choose another school unless I had to. They have great nightlife and wonderful academic programs. The atmosphere of the campus blends well with the surrounding town. There is a lot to do on weekends in the surrounding city and on-campus.

Program
I am so happy with my program! Kent State's fashion program is rated number 3 in the country, and the fashion school was just named as a Center of Excellence in Ohio. By attending Kent, I know that I am going the best place I can for my degree. The teachers are so nice and helpful and they really want you to succeed. 95% of students who graduate from the fashion school at Kent find a job within a few months of graduation. They are really good about keeping you updated with who is hiring. They also have many companies who come directly to the school to hire students.

Greek Life
Greek life at Kent State is great. There are only 6 sororities but there are 20+ fraternities. They are known for partying. Almost everyone at Kent parties, so the fraternities are well known. Greek life hosts many on-campus events each year. Greek housing is available and desirable for those involved. There is no conflict whatsoever between Greeks and non-Greeks.

Weather
Weather is terrible. The first few weeks at college are okay. The weather is comfortable (not too hot, not too cold). After that is rains all the time, meaning almost everyday. On top of that, it rains sideways so your pants are soaked even when you have an umbrella. It is like you're in Seattle, it's horrible. I recommend investing in a pair of rain boots so that your shoes don't get ruined. The weather also switches in a very quick manner. It will be sunny when you get to class, and by the time class is over it will be raining cats and dogs. End of December comes snow and lots of it. It gets pretty cold. I also recommend investing in a pair of snow boots. Kent does have guys who shovel snow, but it takes awhile so you may be stuck slumping through it. After 3 and 1/2 months of snow is over comes more rain. I guess that is what you get for going to a school that gets hammered daily by lake effects.
