The Two Sides of Laboratory Work

I am a chemistry major, and I've enjoyed my classes in the department so far. The major and department are very focused on developing chemists, who will be successful in the field and laboratory after earning a bachelor's degree or during graduate school. Although intimidating at first, it is relatively easy to do laboratory work as an undergraduate. While doing independent research is a great opportunity and relatively enjoyable, the laboratory classes are dreaded by most if not all majors.

East Quad Is Food Friendly

I am in the Residential College and had a great experience in my dorm, East Quad. There are always vegetarian and vegan options in the dining hall, in addition to the implementation of local and organic produce. East Quad is very close to central campus, but some of the other dorms, specifically those on North Campus are pretty far away. After Freshman or Sophomore year, it is much more common to live off-campus in a house or apartment with friends.

Frat Parties Aren't the Only Option

Frat parties are plentiful and packed with eager freshmen who are unable to enter the bars later at night, let alone order a drink there. Most places close early, by 1 or so, and parties usually last until about 2. I enjoy private house parties the most, avoiding the frat scene.
