Academics Are Strong

As an International Studies Major, I take a wide variety of classes (History, Political Science, Language, Economics). So far my professors have been brilliant. For the most part they are very accessible, encouraging students to attend their office hours. The workload is intense, but manageable. The work you put in does pay off in a practical sense--I have received little busy work. Within my major, students are friendly and willing to help. Across the board, you get the genuine sense that Hopkins cares about its undergraduates, and I'm confident that the quality of education is top notch.

Drug Safety at Johns Hopkins University

B+

Drinking Is Big but No Pressure

Drinking and partying is very common at Hopkins, and contrary to stereotypes Hopkins students do know how to have a good time. I've encountered no peer pressure when it comes to drug use. There are some harder core drugs around, but they happen behind close doors, and only a small minority of the students take part.

In terms of the campus police, they will turn a blind eye if you are stumbling drunk on the street. If cops do break up a party, little discipline occurs as long as people respectfully leave.

Internships

The university is incredibly helpful when it comes to internships. Recently I met with an advisor at the career center, and she guided me through the whole internship process from resumes and cover letters to interviews and applications. She was very friendly and invited me to return if I wanted help with my resume. Hopkins has a strong alumni network, and the university provides us every opportunity to succeed.
