Computers on Vanderbilt's Campus

Free Internet Access through the password-protected Vanderbilt Wi-Fi network is available everywhere on campus! It is a very reliabile and high-speed service that all students can take advantage of. Personal computers are highly reccommended to take notes with during certain classes, however there are computers in all of the 8 libraries on campus and even in some of the lecture hall buildings that are available for use, and even connected to printers that charge a small amount to each student's personal account when used.

Local Atmosphere at Vanderbilt University

The "Vander-Bubble"

Vanderbilt students tend to stay close to campus- a trend our Chancellor calls the "Vander-bubble." This is most likely due to the fact that over 95% of students live on campus and there are so many restaurants and social attractions close to campus. The local environment of Nashville, however, is fantastic for the college lifestyle when students do leave campus, though, and area attractions such as dance clubs, concerts, shopping, movie theaters, and more are abundant.

Vanderbilt- the Balance of Life

The greatest thing about us Vanderbilt Students is that, well... we are very smart, obviously, or else we would not have gotten into this top-ranked school. We do not, however, study constantly. We have a lot of fun, too. Vanderbilt is the ONLY University in the U.S. that is ranked as a top 15 academic school, and well as a top 15 party school. We know how to live a balanced life. We know how to work and how to play.

Off-Campus Dining at Vanderbilt University

A

Vanderbilt//Downtown Nashville Dinning

Even though Nashville is a southern city, you'll find much more than fried chicken and country-style dinning options. Nashville has a young atmosphere and that is well reflected in the variety of restaurants surrounding the Vanderbilt area. Hillsbourgh village offers smaller, more college-friendly options (by cost and attire) such as bars, quick-dinning sushi at Zumi, and all-america style places like Jacksons, Cabana, and Sunset Grill. While no places that I know of offer consistent student discounts, several of the places in this Hillsbourgh area take the "vanderbilt card"-- students love this. The Downtown area known as the Gulch offers relatively more fine-dinning options. Along west-end, there are several family-style restaurants like Amerigo's and Bricktops, or a large-group favorite like Goten habachi. Historical favorites are also spotted throughout Nashville, such as the speak-easy Patternson House, which despite its high drinks prices, has the absolute best drinks and bartenders in town. Vegetarians, adventure-hunters, and rich Vandy alumni's will all enjoy a little taste of Nashville.
