Does the food services cater to people allergic to both dairy AND gluten?

I am allergic to both as well! E-mail the Office of Residence Life to request an addition refrigerator in your dorm room to avoid cross-contamination. You are going to have to prepare most of your own food though, hun. :(

Are you going to be a freshmen? Do you already have a roommate??? We could share food lol

No, I don't have a roommate. Here is my email 321icecream@gmail.com I'm actually a transfer student but I'd be down to dorm with you so we could make our own food together and stuff and help eachother out! we can talk over email and see if we'd be the right fit for each other to dorm. :)

I e-mailed you:)

Is there any housing for incoming juniors? How are the Haggerty/Tyson apartments and is it difficult to get one of these as a new transfer student?

Are you transferring to University of Portland as well ?

yes i am! are you living on campus for your first year as a transfer?

Yea I am, I chose as my top 3:

  1. Corrado

  2. Villa Maria

  3. Christie

:)

nice! I sent my deposit for enrollment in the mail last tuesday. once they receive the deposit, do they let you know about housing?

Once they receive the deposit they email you your very own student email that they will use to reach you if they need to and that you will use to gain access to the system so you are able to then apply for housing!

I researched through TONS of websites and so far, Corrado people are really laid back, Villa Maria is more of a "bro" type, Christie is for nerds, Shipstad is for party goers, Mehling is more of a tight-knit girl dorm and there's a few other ones that I can't remember at the moment. Oh and thanks for the email. I'm a guy btw.

thanks! i applied for corrado as my first pick and then fields and melhing. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. haha I'm nervous about dorming with someone EEP! haha. i just responded to your email

Dorm food: are there a range variety of food options for people allergic to BOTH gluten AND dairy? Thanks! I really want to know if they cater to people with allergies or not.

The Global Scholars Hall has lots of tasty options for both gluten and dairy free.

There's a pretty wide spectrum of food variety here, all catering to different people and preferences.

As foor gluten free and dairy free options there are:

soups, salads, gluten free sandwiches (custom order), gluten free oatmeal, fruits and vegetables (of course), gluten free/vegan desserts, lots of stir fries (you get to decide what's in it), eggs, lactose free yogurt, and a whole gluten free section at Grab N' Go. They keep adding more stuff, so there will probably be more by next year :)

UO or Portland State? I'm trying to decide. Thank you!

Portland state has more of a community college feel while UO is like an actual college. In addition, UO is better for school sports and overall spirit. Portland however is a more exciting city and the school is in the heart of downtown. while eugene isn't that exciting, you can still find things to do, or even roadtrip to Portland for a weekend. I would suggest just visiting the schools to see which you feel more comfortable at.

PSU!It is cheaper, and come on its PORTLAND!

I love nature and hippies and I love portland an punk-hipsters. I hate football but I don't want a community college feel. I'm torn. How is university of portland or George fox?

Portland State is more of a commuter school. The housing near the PSU campus is increasing, but it's not the same feeling as UO campus. The city streets of downtown Portland pass right through the campus.

If you want to help "Keep Portland Weird," go for PSU! Sounds like you might.

UO has plenty of hippies and such and has that college campus feel. There is PLENTY to do at UO if you just choose something to get involved in. Also, nature is all around Eugene for your enjoyment! http://uoregon.orgsync.com/BrowseOrganizations

UofPortland and George Fox are small Christian schools.

Good luck with your decision!

What is the dorm atmosphere like? Is it drug free and safe?

The dorm atmosphere is very safe and fun. It is drug free and I feel very comfortable here.

It is very safe. There are strict rules so you feel comfortable.

I feel safe in university housing

Is Portland State better than University of Oregon?

It really depends on what your definition of better is.

I believe that PSU is better than UO because of the area and diversity.I feel that PSU has a lot more to offer their students and better job connections.

I agree with Lisa, since PSU is an urban campus, it gives a lot of opportunities that other schools don't possess. The diversity of cultures, religions and ages gives you acces to others experiences and information. As well as being in a big city opposed to a college town. PSU has lots of internship options too, because there are so many places nearby.

What is it like to be Christian/Catholic in Utah? Are majority of the people mormon? And do they judge you if you are not mormon? I have no experience with Utah or anything. Thanks!

Yes, the majority of people are Mormon, but not everyone is. And most people won't judge you, though some inevitably will. I think it's a great place to live no matter your religion.

I plan on attending Utah State and even though most are Mormon ideally they won't judge you. I am Mormon but I have lots of friends of different faiths that I love to hang out with. Though as Bree said some will and they don't have to be your friends if you don't want to. College has way to many people to not find a sweet group of friends. Best of luck!

Mormons in general are pretty nice to nonLDS. But be prepared to meet a lot of missionaries because if they find out you aren't Mormon, they will try to convert you. They are nice but just tell them no thank you and they will go away.

Is Pacific better than University of Portland?

Yes.

Don't know but Pacific is a great place to be for a college experience.

I haven't had experience with University of Portland, but I prefer going to school in a smaller town that is close to the city rather than smack in the middle of the city.

Are there any dorms for 3rd year transfer students? I'm freaking out that if I dorm, I'll be stuck with a bunch of partying freshmen. :(

There's a dorm a little further off campus, called Barnhart, for upperclassmen.

yes you can stay with older people
