Dorms Are Meh for Freshmen.
As a freshman, you are put in either Milner or Binford. Both dorms suck, binford is quiet, with larger, nicer rooms. Milner is more of a party dorm, and its inhabitants often compare it to a mental hospital for its long medical looking hallways.
The next year, most people seem to move to Bryan, which is disgusting, and gross to live in, so everyone makes up for the squalor by drinking as much as possible as frequently as possible.
If you are lucky, you can (as an upperclassmen) live in one of the many theme houses (basically small frats) or the New or Old apartments, which are pretty sweet as well.

College Fail
You would think that the administration would admit to itself that trying to keep 2,000 18-22 year olds from partying is a doomed effort from the start. Since the first day I got here, I have been told by nearly ever upperclassmen that guilford has cracked down enormously on partys in 2011.
In prior years, guilfords social scene was primarily defined by the bonfires that people threw out in the woods. Since I have been here however, only one such bonfire was thrown. The result has been, of course, that instead of not drinking because of the lack of such events, students just engage in dangerous binge drinking in their dorms. In the first month of school, ambulances would arrive at Milner dorm on a nightly basis, to cart off dangerously over-served freshmen to the hospital.
While the administration continues this dangerously incompetent and ineffectual policy, I cannot recommend this school to anyone at this time.
