Ann Arbor Culture – The culture in ann arbor is very liberal - "hippyish". Many students from the 1960s and 70s never left and they help create a hippy atmosphere. Maybe this helps create a certain charm or maybe it makes you roll your eyes and ask the 40-50 year olds to "grow up". That being said, it is a nice college town. Probably very typical.

The transportation options are great. There are university buses that run between North Campus-Medical Campus- Central Campus and Athletic Campus. It's free and very convenient (timely). We also have access to city of Ann Arbor transportation, which is great and also free for students.

Dining halls are not all the same. North Quad and MoJo have good variety. Bursley and South Quad are pretty good. Most have good variety and quality. You can always find decent food. I like that you can go to any dining hall - not just your own.

I don't see/encounter any drug use among students. But I do see old hippy-types smoking weed.

It's Michigan! Winter in Michigan can be great, especially if you don't have to drive or park a car. Students love the snow!

U of M has many many great academic programs - highly respected and well run. Even as a freshman, access to my professors was great. I am studying Neuroscience and feel that the advising as well as the teaching is great.

University Health center is great - convenient and high quality. Campus safety does a good job. I feel safe on campus.

Many students participate in greek life and have a great experience. I don't participate and still have a great social life. Being greek is not a big deal, it does allow some students to have a social/small community fee at a big university

There are plenty of places for students to enjoy food, music and company. The town is very welcoming to students. Greek life also provides nightlife to some.

On-street parking is reasonable but scarce. There are a few parking structures that usually have available spots, but they are scattered around town and cost more.
