How is Tufts for job placement/(paid)internships over the summer? I realize that this is probably going to vary by major, so here is what I am interested in studying: English, International Relations, Physics and Astronomy. (I'm looking for ways to help defray the cost of attendance.)

academics

College

Academics are fairly good at the University, but some professors aren't at good at teaching. Our university is mainly a research university so their main focus is research rather than teaching.

How is the international relations program at Johns Hopkins?

I've heard it's pretty good so you could apply there. But due to it's harsh acceptance rate you have better choices

It's great! the undergrad program is considered to be one of the top ones in the country

What is the political landscape like at claremont mckenna? Are about half the students left and half right? Whats the sort of ratio? I'm pretty heavily left wing, both economically and socially and while I appreciate having conservatives around to challenge me, I am wary about attending a school where I'll be heavily outnumbered.

As a sort of side question, I was wondering about my chances. My SAT score is 2200, though I'll be retaking that. My GPA (soph + Junior) is 4.4. Over the course of my highschool career, I will have taken over 20 semesters of AP classes. I play tennis competitively, as well as some cyclocross races. I've run cross country, participated in Mock trial throughout my entire high school career. In freshman year I did some petitioning that was used to change some local legislation. I have over 50 hours of community service each year through teen peer court, where I defend (but sometimes prosecute) minors in a sentencing trial (they cant be sentenced to jail time, but most other things are fair game). I have written academic essays on online writing sites and between 3 essays have spent 130 weeks voted #1. Creative writing on online sites has consistently been praised, getting into top 40 etc. My friends and I built a 10 foot tall trebuchet for fun (video posted on youtube). This weekend we're making a movie about a person who got a 2200 on the SAT, goes into depression, then it turns into a sort of Rocky training eye-of-the-tiger thing. I already wrote the screenplay.

Do I have a shot?

I visited last Saturday and talked to a mom/staff member who hinted that the school was very subtly conservative, but emphasized that all the students are very open-minded regardless of political alignment.

i doubt youll get in, cure cancer first, then apply

What an insightful response

Hi, I was wondering if I have a decent enough chance of being accepted. I have a 4.4 (soph & junior year) gpa. 2200 SAT (will retake). I founded a competitive writing club. I run crosscountry, #1 on tennis team. My community service work had a direct impact on california legislation, which helped save leatherback sea turtles. I have over 20 semesters of AP classes. Over 100 hours of community service as a jury member, prosecutor, and defender in teen peer court (sentencing trial for minors -- no jail time on the line). This summer I worked at a market, 20 hours per week. And I think I have an idea as to where Waldo really is.

Do I have a shot? Any way I can have a better shot?

You're just fine. Take a deep breath, and apply. You have a very good shot.

Wow I certainly wish I had your stats lol
