Diversity at University of Mississippi

B

Ole Miss Tupelo

Ole Miss Tupelo campus in Tupelo, MS is a Jr./Sr. level college. The local community college (Itawamba Community College) is in front of the extension campus. There is a good amount of ethnic diversity at this small school. The class sizes are generally small, about 10-25 students. However, there is a lack of religious diversity. This is the Bible Belt, so there are a lot of Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostal, etc, but not many Catholics, Muslims, Jewish. There is also a lack of knowledge about the world outside of Mississippi among the students. Sexual Orientation acceptance has made leaps and bounds here. People are more open and willing to accept you in the younger generations. It is the older generations (50+) that one would have to look for any kind of racism, sexism, etc. Aside from this, it is a wonderful school. The teachers are always willing to help you succeed. The staff members are the nicest people you will ever meet. The curriculum is hard, but fair. The school makes sure its students are prepared to enter the workforce with competitive attitudes. I love the campus and cannot wait to graduate.

Greek Life at University of Mississippi

N/A

UM Tupelo

The Ole Miss Tupelo Campus does not have any Greek clubs. However, if you want the Greek life, go to the actual Ole Miss campus in Oxford. There are TONS of Greek houses there. However, since I am only going to the extension campus, I cannot comment on this topic.

Campus Strictness at University of Mississippi

A-

UM Tupelo

The campus is a very lax campus so long as you follow the rules. No cheating, plagiarizing, drugs, or smoking on campus. If you follow those rules, you will not get into trouble. However, if you do, you could face suspension from campus for up to 3 years! So follow the rules people!
