Health & Safety at Mount Holyoke College

A-

I Always Felt Secure

I have never felt unsafe here, even walking alone late at night. There are many events which the Campus Police attend and inform you of the many services they provide, and what to do in risky situations. Everyone I talk to feels the same way, this is a very warm, safe place to live!

Plentiful Food Options

The food on-campus is amazing, but if you do want to get off campus there are options. I am very familiar with the restaurants in Northampton, and I suggest that you become familiar with them too. They are numerous and very very good! South Hadley also has some great ones- El Guanaco is fantastic and the Egg and I is great for breakfast.

Transportation at Mount Holyoke College

B-

PVTA Is Awesome-Ish

The PVTA is free for students and travels between the five colleges. There are some PVTAs that go to other places (Northampton, Hampshire Mall, Holyoke Mall, etc). Make sure you know the schedule if you are going off campus to a party. The last bus usually leaves around 1:00 AM and often times if you miss it you are screwed. Taxi services are sometimes unreliable and expensive, and they are especially sucky if you need them late late at night.
