I'm an African American New Yorker and I want to transfer to a true college experience, greek life, good academics, awesome school spirit, friendly people, and good athletics. Is auburn worth going all the way down south for?

Auburn is pretty good depending on your choice of a major. but if your wanting great academics in business or medical, HUGE school spirit amazing greek life and some of us good 'ol southern folks, The University of Alabama is your place :)

Auburn has everything you're looking for. School spirit is the number one priority here, they get it ingrained in you within the first hour of orientation. Everyone is pretty friendly and our athletics are pretty good (except basketball). Greek Life is also pretty strong down here and Auburn has been ranked the hardest school in the southeast to receive an A in, if that gives you any insight into our academics.

Is USF good with giving financial aid to out of state students?

is it hard to get into the sorority you want to be in ( specifically the Pan-Hellenic Council)

No. If your values and the organization's value are congruent, then finding the organization that is right for you should not be a problem.

I heard the surrounding area of USF is bad. Does that have any affect on USF has a whole or is the school safe and you must just out of those bad areas?

It is true that the area around USF isn't the best. That's usually how it is for all public Florida colleges. USF is absolutely completely safe. We have security out and around 24/7. There are blue lights always in sight you go to that will contact campus police if you need them. As for the Tampa area, don't be afraid to explore. I take the city bus. It's just about being careful in the day, as you would anywhere. Don't catch yourself in a bad neighborhood, but you'll be fine as long as you're in public in the day.
