Ethnic Food a Must!
When in Montreal, one must take advantage of the very inexpensive ethnic cuisine offered ANYWHERE at ANYTIME of the day. Not only is the food impressive, but the atmosphere and patronage is colorful. If at all possible try speaking a few words of French; you'll be surprised at the increased attentiveness of the staff!

Adhere to Regulations
Professors at McGill do not offer late submissions or re-writes for the most part. McGill is very much a survival of the fittest campus; students are expected to adhere to policies. It is truly up to the student whether or not to attend classes, labs, etc. In other words, only independent self-motivated students tend to succeed.

Security an Issue
I volunteer as a student escort in the evenings as safety is somewhat of a concern. Montreal is a large city and as the campus is downtown, the sheer volume of people ensures that there are at least a few less lawful around.
In addition, the university itself has undergone a tumultuous strike this year, adding an atmosphere of tension unnecessarily.

Rough So Far!
Having been top in my class, I didn't expect the degree of difficulty I've experienced. A lot of studying for barely average grades...somewhat discouraging. However, I shall perservere and trust I'll improve as I progress.

An a dual Canadian/US citizen, I felt the tuition was more than fair in Canada relative to the schools I was looking at in the States (check out Harvard!).
