Safety at Goucher
Literally, I've never felt unsafe at Goucher.The scariest thing you'll see walking around at nice will be local old people taking their nightly power walks around the loop. And slugs, which are gross. There have been some thefts, so lock your door etc just like anywhere (or I suppose, just like most places). Public safety will obviously break up a party that gets to crazy, but that's to be expected. They are incredibly helpful when you get locked out etc.

The Living Is Easy
Goucher's campus atmosphere is generally very friendly. If you don't know people by name, you know them by face. If I wanted to, I would say hi to 20 people on my way to and from class-particularly within your major. Dorms vary a lot-most freshman get put in stimson, which is kind of like a gross right of passage. Otherwise, you can pretty much be assured a nice room and possibly one of the many awesome apartments after freshman year. Housing is expensive, but the convenience of living on campus as opposed to in Baltimore outweighs that in my eyes, particularly as a dance major with late night rehearsals. The social atmosphere differs dorm to dorm, with one of the only upsides of stimson being that everyone is friends.

Know Money
My only advice is to go through the process with someone who understands money, scholarships, grants etc. Neither me or my mom are very good at that, so it got confusing. I was a good student in high school, so I got scholarships and grants and loans based on that. College is expensive, but the people at Goucher are more than willing to sit down and help explain things if you need it.
