School Spirit
Ball State students enjoy the privelege of attending all athletic events for free on campus. However, not all students take advantage of this, therefore they don't show the support our teams deserve for their hard work and dedication. Ahtletic events are not always publicized very well, which also leads to low school spirit on campus.

Cardinal Red and White!
Ball State has been pretty good overall. Campus social life is excellent, and there are plenty of options for off-campus activities. However, tuition and housing are too high for what you really receive at Ball State. There's not a diversity of courses from which to choose. The dormitories available are also not worth the money - off-campus apartments are cheaper and sometimes nicer than on-campus housing.

The Great Outdoors and Loud Music
Nashville is a city for everything, especially for music. There are also great parks offering hiking trails, camping opportunities, and rock climbing. Nashville is also home to many college and universities, including Belmont, Vanderbilt, and Lipscomb. There is a great indie scene of artists, musicians, and writers throughout Nashville. Definitely check out Centennial Park's replica of the Parthenon.

Choose Your Scene
The nightlife on and off campus boasts quite a few options, depending on what you're looking for. On campus students can find residence life sponsored programs, convocations, athletic events, or performances to attend. Off campus, there are plenty of clubs and bars for the 21+ crowd, as well as restaurants offering local performances or songwriter nights. With Vanderbilt University in close proximity to Belmont, many students may want to make friends with the Vandy crowd to have an "in" for more party options off campus. Just remember: Belmont is a dry campus and has a low tolerance for alcohol consumption.

Getting Around
Belmont offers students the option of free use of the Nashville public transportation system. You can also rent a WeCar from Belmont directly. There are plenty of options for students, from bikes to cars, who did not bring a car to campus with them.

Upperclassman Apartments Are Diminishing
When I first arrived at Belmont, I was excited to be living in a 2-bedroom, university-owned apartment. The particular complex I live in (there are 3 owned by the university) is directly across the street from campus. The price is a bit more than you may pay for an off-campus apartment; however, all utilities are included, including laundry usage, there's no hassle in finding a parking spot (free parking!) and it's a short walk to all classes (5 minutes at tops to the furthest buildings). Now, though, the university is constructing a suite-style dormitory with plans to build another one in the fall. With the construction of the new dorms, my current complex is being torn down. I think Belmont should invest more into building more apartments rather than dorms. If I ever want a 2-bedroom apartment again, I'll have to pay more than the current rate in my complex. The only apartment complex with the same pricing only offers 4-bedroom apartments. For upperclassmen, I think there should be a bigger emphasis on apartment housing rather than suites.

Rain, Shine, Snow, Hail
The weather fluctuates a lot. It can be really sunny and warm one day, but dreary and rainy the very next. There's rarely any snow, but when there is, or any other forms of precipitation, no one knows how to drive. So be cautious when driving. Also, since we're still close to the mid-west, tornado season occurs during the early part of the spring. This causes frequent storm warnings and watches with occasional major storms and hail coming through.

Rubber Tree Climbing
Rubber Tree Climbing
Ball State offers a variety of good climbing trees on campus, especially outside of North Quad. During the warmer weather, students can be seen climbing trees and acting like a bunch of monkeys in between classes.

Rob Paravonian and on-campus events
Ball State's University Program Board offers various activities to participate in and/or see on campus from time to time. UPB hosted musician/comedian Rob Paravonian (see "Pachelbel's Rant" on Youtube) on campus one evening. It was a FREE event. Sometimes it pays to live on campus and take advantage of the on-campus programs.
