Alternative Housing on Campus
Conn College has multiple options for alternative housing and theme housing on campus. I lived in Earth House, the environmentally friendly living house on campus for two years and found a family and a niche on campus. The experience of living with other like-minded, motivated students is greatly enriching to your own inspiration and productivity. The only downside is that there are limited opportunities for specialty housing and the application process is substancial enough that its a real bummer if you get rejected.

On the Radar and Under the Radar
There's a typical pre-game in your room, wander around looking for the party, stop at the student-activities sponsored dance, play some video games in your room, go to bed pattern at Conn Coll. But if that's not your taste, there's lots of fun and different activities going on in downtown New London: concerts, craft nights at the fair trade store, gallery openings, you name it. There's also plenty of creative students on-campus, holding theme parties that aren't centered around the consumption of alcohol, board-game nights, and lots of student groups organizing alternative activities on campus as well.

Get a Bike!
Almost every student has a car, and subsequently the transportation provided by the school is under-utilized and less reliable. There's a campaign going on now to reduce the cars on campus (it is almost impossible to find a parking spot) and increase the use of services like "the Camel Van" which does a round dropping and picking up students downtown and at the local malls, as well as the zip cars and the local New London bus system. Training to NY or Boston is expensive, but there's another community project trying to bring the commuter rail to New London, which would make it very affortable
