do they look at weighted or unweighted gpa?

Whichever one's higher, so usually the weighted, but if you're school only offers the unweighted gpa, you'll have to put that.

they use unweighted for statistics on college board. AKA get at least a 3.75 to assure acceptance. But whichever one is higher/benefits you.

if i have a high GPA but average test scores will it really ruin my app

Depends just how high your GPA is. I would say SAT needs to be at least 1700 (1180 M&V, approx.) to have a really solid chance of admission. Keep in mind, however, that the essay (just 500 words) can count for a lot in itself- maybe a great GPA and essay can make up for mediocre test scores. Good luck!

are sats a big factor when deciding if you will be accepted?

SAT/ACt scores are a big factor when the acceptance decision is being made, but extracurriculars do play a role. The average SAT scores are high, beginning around 1700.

My SATs were extremely high, and many of the people I've talked with are the same way.

Mine were extremely high, but I've met plenty of people here who frankly suck at taking tests in general, so there had to have been other factors that influenced their admission.

They definetely like to see high test scores, this year the average accepted was high 1800's. But I know students who were very strong in highschool but didn't do well on SAT's and still got in. They certainly consider school work over test scores in my opinion.

can people who are not in sororities/fraternities still go to parties?

Not really, the fraternities will not really let you in unless you have a friend in the house. If you are on a sports team they throw their own parties.

ok thanks!

Nah I'd never let you in

do the undergrads have many opportunities to meet guys?

i was wondering that too!!?!?!?

There are some MIT fraternities down the street, and Boston is a HUGE city with plenty of available men!

Yes, there are many opportunities to meet people of all gender identities. Boston is a big place, people.

Boston is a big city to find guys in. We are surrounded by co-ed colleges.

If you actually decide to go out in the city and willig to network. if not then no

You are right next to two other colleges, Harvard Medical School, and close to downtown. You will not have a problem meeting guys!
