Off-Campus Housing at Boston University

B-

Expensive...But Cheaper Than Dorming

Boston University Off-Campus Services provide updated lists of apartments and sublets in and around Boston free of charge. You can also post your own apartment for rent. Along with the postings are details about tenant rights and responsibilities, neighborhood descriptions, explanations of rental terms, advice before signing a lease, and other helpful resources. Boston is an expensive city so unless you have a lot of savings and/or help from the parents expect to pay a lot in rent. That being said, it can be cheaper than dorming, up to thousands cheaper if you find the right place. There are lots of cool, hip neighborhoods to find an apartment around BU, so even though you're not on campus, you may be immersed into another fun culture.

Nightlife at Boston University

A-

College Town = Lots of Parties

Boston is a college town. We live amongst Harvard, MIT, Emerson, Northeastern, Berklee, Boston College, and whole bunch of community colleges. There is always a party whether Fraternity/Sorority or something more formally organized, it's going on. The bar/club scene is strictly 21+ and the streets of Boston tend to be asleep very early, however that doesn't mean there are no clubs lurking on the corner. Most clubs are 21+ but there are open mics, salsa dancing, and other clubs that are 18+, just takes som research. Tranportation around Boston is the T, our subway system. But it shuts down after 12:30am so you're stuck taking an overpriced cab (hope you're with other people to divide the price).

Weather at Boston University

C

Very Cold Winter

I hate the cold weather so I am not a fan. One winter was death because it was nonstop snow in the North East. This really affected BU's campus. Mountains of snow would form along Comm Ave, and when they melt they would create huge puddles of slush! Basically any times it rains really hard or snows, you better have rainboots because huge lake like puddles form on the streets. And classes are never canceled. But when the weather is nice, it's really beautiful on campus. All the students are out lounging and playing.
