Greek Life at University of Missouri

A+

Exclusive for a reason.

Mizzou Greek life may seem exclusive, and for good reason. The fraternity men go through a lot of learning and training to become initiated, which no NG would understand. We bond with our brothers and learn about each other so quickly and it creates friendships that can last a life time. The sorority women also go through a lot, and are some of the most involved people on campus. We exclude only those who try and look down on us and don't respect the process we went through. I myself have many NG friends who I treat just like anyone else, and many of them ask how to get involved and rush for the spring. College is what you make of it and Greeks at Mizzou want to make the most of their time here. Through volunteering, homecoming, intramurals, and academics the Greek community participates in all, and have the ability to balance them.

Most NG guys hate fraternities because they think the men in them are only accepting of other greeks, when it's only that we know what each other has been through and hate the stereotypes many have of us. While NG girls dislike sorority women because they either didn't get into the house they wanted or didn't rush because they "don't like girls". All of us accept NG's until they bash us for "paying for our friends" and think we're only interested in partying. Overall those who have bad things to say about Greek Life here at Mizzou obviously aren't in it, because they don't understand the time it takes nor the benefits you receive from your hard work. As a whole we participate more and therefore have more pride in not only our house, but our university. Proud to be a Tiger and proud to be Greek.
