Facilities at Luther College

A

Great Facilities at a Great College

Luther has a great athletic facility (Regents Center) which contains multiple gyms, an indoor track, a pool, an awesome rock climbing wall, and a full weightlifting center.

It also has a good student center (the Union) which has our campus bookstore, post office, student activities office, large group meeting rooms, a lounge area with a big fireplace to study or hang out, and the 3 main food places on campus: the main student cafeteria, Marty's (more of a fast-food internet cafe kind of place that also has live music performances pretty much every week) and Oneota Market (more of a bakery/coffee shop) From the Union you also have a great view of the gorgeous Iowa bluffs which makes it a great spot to grab a bite to eat or meet up with friends.

Guys & Girls at Luther College

A

All Around Great People

Most of what you will find here at Luther (both guys and girls) are nice, polite midwesterners. Due to the fact that Luther is a small liberal arts school you get a lot of interaction with a lot of different kinds of people around campus, and I feel like by the time you graduate you at least know of just about everyone. Luther students are intelligent and hardworking but also really sweet and easy to talk to. We have an amazing music program here so if you're at all into that its not hard to find a ton of people with similar interests, but also have pretty good biology and nursing programs if that is more your thing (or both).

Drug Safety at Luther College

B

Easy to Get If You Want It

I'm not going to lie and say that there is no alcohol or drugs on Luther's campus. However, I feel that, for the most part, it is not very public. Certainly I'm sure it would be pretty easy to get access to these substances should you so choose, but if not, I don't think it has a huge impact on you. I personally do not take part in these activities (nor do I really hang out with people who do) and therefore don't have a lot of information about it. I'd say drinking was definitely more popular here than drug use, or at least thats what I've seen. You do encounter drunk people in the dorms and such, especially on the weekends, but you'd get that at any college.

Off-Campus Dining at Luther College

A

Small College Town Provides Great Food

Decorah is a small town that very much embraces Luther College. There are some of the basic fast food chains like you'll find anywhere such as McDonalds, Subway, and Pizza Hut. However, the really good food comes from the smaller local restaurants. There's Mabes (an awesome Pizza place), the Family Table (all around good little diner with a variety of classic menu options), and two local ice cream novelties, the Whippy Dip and the Sugar Bowl. The great thing about such a small college town is that there really good about accommodating Luther students. Both Mabes and Pizza Ranch will deliver right to your dorm room and send fliers with coupons to students mailboxes from time to time.

Weather at Luther College

B

Rain, Snow, Sun..Welcome to the Midwest

Luther gets all the fun of typical midwest weather, warm summers, cold snowy winters, and everything in between. It snowed quite a bit here this year but classes don't get cancelled unless the individual professor can't make it in, but thats not a huge problem because most of them live very close to campus. The other downside is that the campus is kind of built in a valley and so when it rains, the water can accumulate kind of quickly in some places. Fortunately the campus is small enough that it doesn't take very long to get between buildings when there is bad weather
