Deland, Florida
The atmosphere is a very small town feel to it. It comes across as having been very nice and pleasant in the past but is now a bit run down due to the recession. The main parts of town are very safe but if you travel into the low income areas, there is undeniable risk. If you drive just outside the town limits the natural springs and local parks are gorgeous and a wonderful attraction to the area. About 30 minutes away is Daytona Beach, which is a popular destination and an enjoyable activity. Orlando is about the same distance away, which of course has many attractions including theme parks and wonderful shopping. In Deland itself are some delicious family owned restaurants of diverse food types and usually use locally grown ingredients. There is a top notch baseball stadeum, which is popularly attended to watch the Stetson boys' baseball team compete.

Low Choice of Bars
The night life usually involves the Greek community and Frat parties or Sorority socials. These are generally very succesful and available to all ages. There are also other activities organized by student organizations, such as movie nights, game nights, kareoke, cultural events, food fairs, etc. There are only about two bars that are very popular, but if you're of age, there are many underground hangout taverns that are very enjoyable.

Public Safety
Public Safety gives rides on golf carts late at night across campus and if someone is having a health issue rides will be given any time of the day. There are also buses that take students to the airport in Orlando. Many of the groups in the Greek system have weekly designated drivers for transportation.
