Ticketing on Campus
Parking can be a huge hassle on campus, but what is even worse is ticketing policies. You cannot leave your car unattended in spot for more than two minutes without being ticketed $35-45 dollars. There are many full-time employees whose job is solely to ticket students--and they do a good job. There is a lot of animosity towards parking services at Virginia Tech.

Unpredicatable Weather
On any given day prepare for everything. It can be sunny and warm in the morning and by noon it will be windy and cold. You can never be sure what to wear, so bring layers or an umbrella whenever possible.

Greek Life
If you're looking to get involved, go Greek. Members of sororities and fraternities are not stereotypical at tech, and often are the most involved people. Joining an organization can open many doors and prepare you more for the real world than classes.
