Too Hot During the Day – Cedar City comes alive at night. It's too hot otherwise. Most places are closed a night, but that's the time students get together and have fun. It's popular to go out to Denny's late a night, make cobbler at study parties. Night games are popular. There are movies and concerts at night. Sometimes there are dances. Some crowds will "party" at night. These drinking crowds are easy to find, but also easy to avoid. Transportation is relatively irrelevant because almost everything worth engaging in is walking distance from campus.

Labs Are Almost Perfect – Computers a new and function well. There are plenty labs, especially in the art department. All printers are high quality; I've never had a complaint. Internet is exceptionally fast. My only complaint, is the graphics labs are not always open on Saturdays. It depends on whether they can find a tutor to be there or not.

Different, but Not Easy – The art program at Southern Utah University is unique compared to other programs, yet, it is challenging. Instead of final tests, you have final projects-- and instead of looking at your projects and saying "great job", the professors look for ways they can be improved. They really critique and work with the students. Along with critique, they praise what was done well. The programs are demanding, but because of it, I can honestly look at my work now compared to two semesters ago, and see improvement tenfold. I think more professionally now, and my work reflects that. I said the work is demanding; however, it is not overwhelming. Not once did I feel like I could not do what they were asking me to do. The professors really look at where you are, and they see where you can be, and they work with you. Regarding facilities, SUU is building a new museum of fine art. Every graphics lab has Macs and high quality printers. There are spacious drawing, painting, and ceramics studios. We partner with the nearby national parks for internships. This summer I went to Florence, Italy for a study abroad. The art programs at SUU are amazing.
