Study Areas

In most study areas, if the students are willing to ask questions, more likely than not the staff will gladly assist them in solving the problem they are having. I have always had a great experience in the different study areas, from chemistry to biology. I have even gotten to know many of the staff members, and one of them wrote me a letter of recommendation for a teaching position in the instructional center for minority students. I guess it shows that help is available as long as the students are willing to put the effort and search for it.

Weather at University of Washington

B

It Seems Appropriate

It rains much in Seattle, a constant dreary gray that most days do not allow much outdoor activities. That said, aside from the pain of commuting to classes, I find the weather to be quite conducive for study efforts. It does make it difficult to enjoy weekends, but strictly academically speaking, its fine.

Majors at University of Washington

Neurobiology

I am applying to the Neurobiology major, which is considered a competitive major because of the restrictive number of lab spaces available. Annually 48 students are taken in. I have been speaking with the advisers for the major, and they have been all but supportive and encouraging to me. They give me useful advice and resources, and (keep my fingers crosses) I should be hearing from them soon about my acceptance into the program.
