Nice dorms, TERRIBLE staff
The dorms are spacious and nice enough, but the REHS life staff at Oxy is easily one of the worst in the country. Serious reform is needed in the next year. Students, parents, campus safety, and many of the deans have had serious problems with REHS life in the past few years. The staff is disrespectful, strict, and completely misguided when it comes to discipline in the dorms. That being said, the dorms at Oxy are very nice and the rooms are spacious. The most rundown freshman dorms are way nicer than most upperclassman dorms at bigger universities.

If you know where to go, Oxy is the best
Although many people complain about Oxy's lack of a strong greek system, do not think there is nothing to do on the weekends. House parties and frat parties here are fun and intimate, but there are a plethora of clubs in LA and Hollywood that have huge events basically every night of the week. If you are into electronic and house music, you will be in heaven here. If not, no worries. It's easy to find things to do.

It's Los Angeles...
If you're not from California and you come here, it may be a bit of shock for you when you find out how many people here smoke pot. There are tons of Medical Marijuana clubs in Los Angeles and laws in Eagle Rock towards marijuana are very lax. Pot smoking is very prevalent, but students seem to find good balances between their school work and marijuana use. Many students choose to take "party drugs" on the weekend (E, coke, etc.) but most of this is hidden and students (for the most part) tend to use it responsibly. Drug use is not a problem here but since drugs are easily available in LA, they are more prevalent than at other schools.
