Ohh, Carlisle
The first thing I noticed when visiting Dickinson was that the campus was actually within the town, not separated from it like other small liberal arts schools I visited up north. Being able to walk straight off campus into downtown Carlisle is nice, there are lots of little shops, restaurants, and bars in the area. We just got a new crepe place that's like a party in your mouth. That being said, downtown is really the only place students can and will hang out off campus, mainly because of the bars, which are very few. Once you drive away from downtown you see that Carlisle can be pretty rural, yet scenic. Around Halloween time, there's a pretty cool corn maze and haunted hay ride not too far of a drive from campus. Harrisburg is a half hour drive from Carlisle if you want to go to the mall. Locals are usually pretty nice to students, but as always, you have to be careful of those who aren't.

Pretty Safe
Overall, I feel pretty safe on campus. At night if I'm walking by myself I just make sure to be careful and walk through well lighted areas. Recently there has been a lot of interest in sexual assault issues in the past, but some new rules are being put into place because of it. The DPS officers are really approachable and can be seen a lot around campus.

Professors Are Great
For being a liberal arts school, Dickinson has a really good science program. The main science building, Rector, is one of the newest buildings on campus and very high tech. All the professors I've had are brilliant, really passionate about their subject, and always willing to talk to students. We also have a good career center and alumni networks that help students prepare for and find jobs and internships.

Great
Before I came to Dickinson, I never thought I would be a biology major. I guess one of the good things about Dickinson is taking classes that you never would take otherwise. One of the first classes I took freshman year led me to become a biology major. The professors are all great and really willing to help students.
