Drinking Trumps Drugs
UGA is very big on drinking. Very big. But there are so many students that the number of people who don't drink/do drugs is also very big. Getting into bars (even if you're underage) is fairly easy, although law enforcement has recently made getting fake IDs a bit more challenging. Honestly, if you're into drugs and drinking, it's not hard to do that. But if you aren't, there really isn't any pressure to do it if you hang out with people that don't do it, and there are plenty of other things to do that are fun and keep you sober.

Great College Town
Athens is the epitome of a college town. Campus and the immediate area around campus is all geared almost exclusively towards students, which makes finding things to do, places to eat, etc. really easy. There are always great sporting events (football) and tickets are usually free or really cheap for students. Downtown has a fantastic music scene that you shouldn't miss out on. If there are big events (big concerts, etc.) that you want to attend, Atlanta is about an hour away, so it's not too hard to get those opportunities too.

Best of...
Best of Dining. Excellent meal plans and dining hall options. Great quality food.
Best of Major Options. Over 150 major options to choose from. If you really can't decide, you can even create your own major.
Best of North Campus. It's quiet, quaint, and beautiful. And there's just enough grass to lay out and read.
Best of Getting involved. Whether you go Greek or not, there's plenty of organizations to get involved in. If you somehow manage to not find anything you like, you can found your own organization!
Best of Campus-wide games. Zombies v. Humans. Enough said.

Lots of Variety
UGA has over 150 majors to choose from. So the odds are that you will find something you like. And changing your major is pretty easy.
There are a lot of big lecture classes at UGA, but if you come in with AP credits, you can usually exempt out of those. I came in with several hours and had to take only one course before I finished all of my foundation courses and could focus solely on major classes.
Honors classes have especially small classes, which is great because it really helps you get to know the professor, learn better, etc. Plus, you register for classes WAY before everyone else. You should really apply to Honors. It's in the top 5 Honors programs in the country, and it's considered to be "an Ivy League education for half the price."

Parking Pass Encouraged
UGA has a lot of parking options, but if you're a student with a car (even if you live off campus) you should definitely get a parking pass. They're not too expensive, and it will really make your life easier.

All 4 Seasons
Athens displays all four seasons, which most people like. In the summer though, it can get REALLY hot. It also rains frequently, so bring rain boots, a rain jacket, and an umbrella.

Decent Housing
There are lots of housing options on campus. From the classic high-rise dorm room, to apartment styles, and everything in between, UGA offers it. Housing is not guaranteed for upperclassmen though.

Great Greek Scene, but Doesn't Dominate
There's definitely a great Greek scene, but it doesn't dominate the school. About half of the students are involved in Greek life. It works for some people, but it's not for everyone. Either way you will make friends and find an organization you love.
