Public Safety
I feel safe while on RPI's campus, due to the layout of the campus and the numerous Blue-light emergency phones. The town of Troy, however, is hit or miss, with muggings are at times semi-common. They have dropped off in recent years though.

The Ratio
The stereotypical engineering school, with an infamous ratio. Historically, the ratio has been 3 guys to 1 girl, with it changing slightly between years. This has evoked an acronym on campus: "R.I.B.S." This stands for Rensselaer Induced B---- Syndrome, because the girls get used to having guys flock to them, even if they are only average looking. Is it true? Sometimes. The bigger issue seems to be the cute-to-hot girls are already taken, and the rest are below average engineering nerdy girls. It also depends on majors as well.

The Edge
Rensselaer's name alone gives graduates an edge when it comes to applying for jobs. People know the school is a tough school and one of the best in the country, so company's know that the graduates are some of the brightest in the world.
