What is your relationship like with your faculty advisor?

She's like my high school counselor--I go to her to get my class choices approved and for me, I took a class taught by her, so she was also my teacher for a semester.

Excellent. I changed my advisor to someone in my major and she is extremely helpful and supportive.

What resources are provided by the career services office?

They do mock interviews, help with resumes, internships, etc.

appointments with career counselors, connections with alumni, career events, open hours to get help with resume and cover letter edits from trained students when you're not available for an appointment

What is your relationship like with your faculty advisor?

Pretty good. We don't talk much because I don't need a lot of help with my class selections or anything but I know I could always stop in her office for a cup of tea.

You don't see them a whole lot unless you REALLY want to. My former advisor is on leave this year (not major advisor) so for Sophomore year I had another one. I'm always one with a plan, so my former advisor just OK'ed everything I proposed (which means I didn't get a whole lot of advise). My latter, however, likes discussing things in depth and we always have good conversations the very few times we get to meet. It really depends. Your first advisor CAN BE your A&I instructor, so if you really care, pick your course carefully.

Yes! And all of them are lovely and I've learned from all of them.

What resources are provided by the career services office?

Essentially everything you would think of for a Career Center. They help you build resumes, find jobs and internships, network, practice interviews, etc.

What do students do on weekends? Do most students stay on campus?

Drink and drink again! I'm a first-year, and don't get me wrong, I love to go out and party, but it does get a bit tiring ONLY drinking in order to be social. But this semester I've been finding much more interesting things to do, you just have to dig! Like improv shows, poetry reading, movies, etc. Depends what your into, but expect a lot of drinking regardless. Most parties are off campus though-but everything's usually within walking distance.

Not always true... It depends where on campus you live. While alcohol plays a major role in campus culture, there are plenty of students who are completely substance free and have excellent community.

How many hours a week do you spend on schoolwork (in and out of class)?

Class ranges, right now I have about 14 hours of class a week. Work can be anywhere from an hour a day to about 6 hours and up. It all depends on how you manage your time.

I spend about 18 hours a week in class and about 25 hours on homework through out the week.

I spend 12.5 hours a week in class and do roughly 25 hours of homework per week. (Sociology major taking a lot of music / theater classes)

What resources are provided by the career services office?

The career development office is really good. They are helpful and cheerful and always have good ideas and insights when I talk to them.

They will connect you to alumni to help your chances of getting a job after graduation. They'll help you practice interviews, apply to grad schools, and get internships/externships. They are very helpful!

How big are your classes?

A freshman general chemistry lecture can be as large as 300 students. I'v also had freshman honors English class that had 18 kids. So it really does depend. They will get smaller as you move on up and take harder classes.

Depending on your major the class sizes vary. I'm a sophomore and the majority of mine have been 200-500 person lectures though I've had a few ranging from 15-50.
