Safety
Highland Park is a very very safe neighborhood. You can walk to your car from dorms/houses/library at night without being scared or in danger. Campus is private so no cut through traffic. Also there is Giddy Up to drive you places on campus till 3 am. It is completely free and there never really is a wait.

Off-Campus Housing
Almost all students live off-campus after freshman year besides greek sophomore boys who live in their frat houses. It is easy to find a house/apartment and the land lords and realators are very helpful! However, housing is pretty expensive in the Highland Park area. Most people pay around $800-1500 a month. Most houses are really close to classes though!

Inside Scoop
There's always something to do at SMU. SMU is filled with people who like to go go go and are very sociable. Everyone introduces themselves to each other with a handshake and can hold a conversation with adults. However, they still are crazy partiers. Academically, SMU has a great business school. Advisors are really helpful and try to make it so you can double major or double minor.
