For Living in a City, You Are Pretty Safe
No matter what you do as a student at GW, you cannot forget that you do not live in a campus environment. The city is your classroom, your campus, and your playground with all of its benefits (biology class at the Smithsonian) and disadvantages (mysterious packages at the metro). Nevertheless, the University tries its utmost to keep the campus safe with a strong police presence, blue lights, and an escort service.

Life at GW
Let's face it. You are living in the heart of DC (the State Department is one block away and the White House is three). There are endless things you can do from shopping, to museums, to art galleries, to clubs, to bars, etc. However, with the convenience of living in the heart of DC, there is the cost. You should expect to spend $12,000 per year on housing whether you are on or off campus.

Don't Forget Your Umbrella
As a student at GW, everything is within 10 blocks of your dorm. Therefore, you walk everywhere. So on those rainy day, don't forget your rainboots and umbrella.
